Number of payments

Post by bluemoon » Sun Dec 07, 2008 3:35 pm

When I run a simple financial example from the original HP12-C manual, I get an error. The example is:

i = 10.5
PV = 35,000
PMT = -325.00

n=?

The manual says I should see n = 328.00, but instead I get the error message: "n unknown: check values"

You should be pressing the blue (g) key before the i key to divide 10.5 by 12 as you enter it. You can see this in the detailed instructions in the manual on p40. Then you will get the answer 327.44, which the 12C is rounding out to 328 periods, as it does.
